Testimonials
I think it was great - it seemed to focus on content I couldn't get from just reading the manuals which made the classes more interesting and I loved the experiential learning pieces and interactive games. They really help the lessons stick.

I loved it, I learned so much, everyone was so passionate it allowed me to open up and be very engaged.

This session re-instilled some confidence in me personally, and knowing that these resources exist I can more confidently know that I have a TEAM of support to help me support my patients and their communities.

I enjoyed thinking and writing out our "why's"; all the interactive conversations - appreciated that it wasn't just a straight lecture; practicing some motivational interviewing.

From my previous diabetes prevention training, I was only given a booklet and minimal instruction on how to run the class. Even though the material was pretty self explanatory, the rapport was difficult to build.
As an NP, I definitely see some of the interview skills can be helpful with our everyday practice. Seeing patients is more than just fixing the problem, it's about understanding the patient. In today's health care, it's difficult to practice such methods due to the time constraints. At Joshua Medical Center, we want our patients to be cared for both physically and mentally thus having your team involved with our patient care programs is greatly appreciated!

As a coach,I should see myself to have the power to inspire and motivate our participants to achieve their goals of developing a healthy lifestyle which is to delay their pre diabetes into developing into type 2 diabetes and prevent the risk of having a heart attack and stroke. (R E)
All the communication strategies that I learned will help me be effective in my role as a coach. Parent Adult Child is a great way to remember to speak to individuals as an equal person and not that you are in charge (parent).

Being a Pre diabetic myself and with my experience as a Dietician, I can be effective in assisting individuals on how to track their food. I will assist theration of their food and cultural preferences. Understanding and respecting their current eating habits will encourage them to make small changes to prepare healthy meals.
